Keep Your Heart Tender

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not Despise (Psalm 51:17).

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which in the sight of God is of great price (1 Peter 3:4).

If you will win in this life from God’s standpoint, you must make your heart (the center of your life) line up with His (God’S) heart. The first step to doing this is a desire to know Him (Jeremiah 29:12-13). Jesus Christ assured us that God will answer that prayer (Matthew 5:6)! The next step is to determine to serve Him in Spirit and in Truth (John 4:23-24); and make a difference – to His eternal glory – in your generation (Acts 13:36). Pray to God to never let you treat him as you would fellow mortals; that is, to give only so much of your heart and soul in service to Him. You are to treat Him as your all in all. Serve Him in thought, word, and deed; with your spirit, soul and body. He will reward you (Hebrews 11:6)!

Understand that there is no substitute for keeping your heart tender (soft) before the Lord. It is the mother of all virtues! It is the only thing God wants from you (Proverbs 23:26). God knows that once He has your heart, He has you. To keep your heart tender means to walk with God in all sincerity. People may affect you, but He determines you! You live and function in this world, but your eyes are on the prize; His approval. It is only by the help and grace of THE Lord Jesus Christ that you can be tender before GOD and sensitive to other human beings. Trying to be better any other way is at best a semblance (imitation) of service.

Serving God with a clear conscience is like making a deposit on your life. At first it may seem like it doesn’t pay. It may appear that you are sacrificing so much – for little or nothing. Do not despair! THE Lord has been in the business of assuring people of the benefits of living for Him long before you came on the scene (were born). The time to withdraw from the account for your life will come! It may not come when you expect. For some, it may come when you feel like giving up; or have already givennup. GOD Almighty is not a man! The blessings He intends to make plain in your life (in His own time) are not for you alone! His plan is to make sure many are blessed because you said yes to Him. He alone must get the glory. His promise to you is, ‘Mark the perfect (mature by the help and grace of the Lord), and behold the upright (one cleansed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ and actively obedient to God): for the end of that man is peace’. God bless you!
